If you want a true Mom and Pop winery experience, make sure you visit Vista Del Rey Vineyards in Paso Robles, CA. Their zinfandel and barbera wines are very food friendly, and the owners Dave and Carol make the wine tasting experience so enjoyable. A must stop if you visit the Central Coast of California!
I hate giving this winery less than 5 stars. I think their Barbera is some of the best around. My bad rating is for the customer service. I have purchased wines from this winery and in person I've gotten great service. It's by phone and email where I've gotten poor service. Given they don't have a website, phone and email is how I tried to contact without avail. I'll take my business somewhere else.
Best wine tasting experience we have ever had. Dave & Carol are amazing hosts who brought a personal, informative perspective to an increasingly corporate industry. To top it off, their wines are also delicious. This was the first stop on our honeymoon and it could not have been more perfect.
Dave King is a wonderful host. His wines aren't too shabby, either. Try the Barbera or Zin-Bera blend. Access is poor right now due to paving work on 101 at San Marcos road.
Fun visit to this little winery. Interesting story on how Dave became a wine maker and his orchards. Nice wines and nice salad dressing called Zinfandel Marionberry Vinigrette and a wonderful rub (Also used it on roasted vegetables...incredible flavor!), Chili Margarita Mecican Rub. I had never seen pistachios growing before and they have several trees. Their rock gardens are great as well as is the view from their property. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
