In the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country lies Koehler Winery, a family-owned gem focusing on boutique, small-batch production. For over 26 years, the Koehler family has passionately cultivated a 40-acre property with an eco-friendly, sustainable approach. The vineyard, managed by the Koehlers themselves, boasts enduring connections, creating a family atmosphere.

Derek, the Koehlers' eldest son, shaped by a childhood amidst the vines, now contributes his dedication after studying international wine practices in France. His commitment to earth-friendly farming aligns seamlessly with Koehler's ethos. Winemaker Trace Brueske, a champion of regenerative farming, shares his wisdom with guests, aspiring to achieve an Organic designation for many hand-crafted wines.

Dan Zurliene, the wine club manager, marks two decades with Koehler, embodying the friendly spirit of the Santa Ynez Valley. Koehler Winery, set on the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail, stands out for its warm hospitality. The 49-year-old vines, nestled in the canyons, produce a superb range of fruit, meticulously tended by a dedicated vineyard team.

Koehler Winery invites you to a laid-back experience, enjoying tastings amidst picturesque outdoor settings or sipping wine on the picnic lawn. Surrounded by emus and four-legged friends, Koehler's commitment to quality and sustainability unfolds in every glass. Join them for an approachable journey through Santa Barbara Wine Country.

We’ve been going to this winery for years and we still love it. First, Dan is the MAN when it comes to everything wine. He has extensive knowledge of wines as well as a variety of other topics. We think he was a comedian in his first life—-always makes us laugh 😄. This is a very laid back place with beautiful grounds around it. The only suggestion we have would be to spruce up/update the tasting room. Even just a fresh coat of paint would be nice.☺️

Loved this spot, went back last two times I've stayed up there and will continue to go back!Summary:Wine is good, we left with the bottles of the rose. Super chill vibe, good music playing beautiful natural grounds with plenty of places to sit and have a picnic. Hosts are welcoming and no nonsense. This great family winery is both beautiful and a happy place to be. They have you sit anywhere you want and you come back up to the counter for your next tasting, or you can purchase a bottle. You can bring your own food and sit in a shady spot, there's lots of places to sit with a view of the vineyards.Side note: check out the Emus in the corral at the bottom of the hill.

Dan the wine man! Under that no BS veneer beats the heart of king. Hes not pushy and allows this beautiful wine to speak for itself. After 20 years here and a decade in Napa, Dan KNOWS wine and real Hospitality like it was long before keyboard warriors ruined things 😉 This is one old fashioned family man, proud of the wine he serves and the realness we all crave. He was the highlight of my besties 50th birthday trip, and my week.

It was my first time wine tasting at a vineyard and Dan made it an incredible experience! He's knowledgeable about the history of the wines & helped me understand the notes. The wine was phenomenal & I ended up going home with a bottle. The whole experience felt very comfortable and friendly. You can tell this is a place people come back to for the wine and the company.

Great wine. Service was excellent. The owner Dan served us and he was hilarious and so much fun. Also, and most importantly, there are winery cats here.

Going to wineries such as Koehler’s really makes you wonder why anyone goes to the tasting rooms in cities. The rolling hills of vineyards as you drive up set the mood and the professional yet amicable staff knock it out of the park with tastings of delicious wines. The cats on the roof, the emu at the neighboring fence, and picnic tables with beautiful, old trees providing shade, all serve to round out the very worthwhile experience
