Carhartt Family Wines, a three-generation family venture, planted vineyards in 1996 on the historic Rancho Santa Ynez™. Sustainable farming practices, including organic methods and regenerative agriculture, characterize their Rancho Santa Ynez Estate vineyards. The Canyon Vineyard, added in 2017, uses unique planting on steep hillsides, emphasizing manual labor.
Sustainability, defined as meeting present needs without compromising the future, guides Carhartt. Vineyard practices involve ecological farming—no chemical inputs, emphasizing composting and natural pest management. Regenerative agriculture principles aim for land restoration and conservation.
The Carhartt family's connection to Rancho Santa Ynez dates back to the '50s. Mike Carhartt, raised on the ranch, farms grapes, while Brooke Carhartt, a self-made winemaker, and Chase Carhartt, the third-generation farmer and winemaker, uphold the family tradition.
Sustainability extends to winemaking, emphasizing minimal intervention and letting grapes express themselves naturally. Carhartt Family Wines treats me like Family. They have the most relax atmosphere. The owners and servers are kind and generous. Their knowledge of wine adds to my enjoyment and pleasure of relaxing and sipping on a busy day of doing nothing.
I came here because me and my friend are big fans of the Carhartt company. We sat down in their beautiful outdoor patio for a wine tasting. It was a very fair price for 5 wines. Our server was very informative and friendly. We were finishing our tasting as they were setting up for an event but everyone was friendly and no one made us feel rushed. It was a great experience and I recommend checking it out if you find yourself near the area.

I love it here! I'm made to feel like a member of the family every time I pass through the doors. The wines are amazing. The atmosphere is lovely. The people you meet are enchanting. Everyone from the wine makers, the staff, and the patrons make this tasting room a place to revisit over and over. Thank you for encouraging a welcome environment.
We had a lovely time here! Everyone who gave us a pour contributed something different to our experience! A warm smile, helpful background information, and genuine personality! We got to try some options off the menu like there’s sparkling Caroline which made us feel valued and made our New Year’s day extra special! The wines are world-class and deserve to be just as recognized as Napa and Sonoma! Do yourself a favor and come visit the beautiful town of Los Olivos and also this excellent tasting room!
