Carhartt Family Wines, a three-generation family venture, planted vineyards in 1996 on the historic Rancho Santa Ynez™. Sustainable farming practices, including organic methods and regenerative agriculture, characterize their Rancho Santa Ynez Estate vineyards. The Canyon Vineyard, added in 2017, uses unique planting on steep hillsides, emphasizing manual labor.
Sustainability, defined as meeting present needs without compromising the future, guides Carhartt. Vineyard practices involve ecological farming—no chemical inputs, emphasizing composting and natural pest management. Regenerative agriculture principles aim for land restoration and conservation.
The Carhartt family's connection to Rancho Santa Ynez dates back to the '50s. Mike Carhartt, raised on the ranch, farms grapes, while Brooke Carhartt, a self-made winemaker, and Chase Carhartt, the third-generation farmer and winemaker, uphold the family tradition.
Sustainability extends to winemaking, emphasizing minimal intervention and letting grapes express themselves naturally. Carhartt Family Wines' commitment, from ground to glass, reflects a dedication to positive growing conditions and environmental responsibility, ensuring each bottle mirrors their sustainable philosophy.
