Maidenstoen Winery specializes in crafting small-batch wines sourced from exceptional vineyards. Their approach centers on clean winemaking techniques, prioritizing purity of expression and minimizing interventions. The winery's dedication to showcasing the unique characteristics of each site is evident in their portfolio. Grapes are sourced from the historic Lafond Vineyard in Santa Rita Hills to the windswept Zabala Vineyard in Arroyo Seco, Maidenstoen carefully selects vineyards known for producing exceptional grapes. Notably, their Rieslings from these vineyards exhibit tension and natural acidity, reflecting the challenging yet rewarding growing conditions. In the Edna Valley, Oliver's Vineyard, under the stewardship of Talley Vineyards, yields Riesling grapes coveted by quality-focused producers across the Central Coast. The vineyard's commitment to sustainable farming practices aligns with Maidenstoen's ethos of respecting the land. In Cienaga Valley, the Wirz Vineyard stands as an historic gem, with its wide-spaced, head-trained vines fostering natural composting and enhancing soil health. This meticulous approach results in some of the finest Riesling grapes on the Central Coast. Lastly, the Coast View Vineyard, perched along the Gabilan Mountains, offers unique terroir characterized by decomposed granite and limestone soils. Maidenstoen has exclusively worked with their Riesling since 2013, a testament to their commitment to this exceptional site. Through these carefully chosen vineyards, Maidenstoen creates wines that exemplify the essence of each location.
